Redanopedia Project

From The Redanopedia

Welcome to The Redanopedia![edit]

The Redanopedia is all about Redan, a small suburb in the south part of Ballarat. The area was originally settled during the gold rushes of the 1850s along what was called the Redan lead. In the deep lead mining period from 1860-1890, Redan was home to many of the richest gold mines and substantial bluestone quarries. Now it is mainly a residential area, but also has some major sporting complexes, including the regional soccer facility, harness racing and greyhound track.

This wiki documents the geography, the history, the people, the mines, the houses, the factories and the shops that have served the Redan community. Because it is a wiki, it means that anyone is able to edit and add information to the pages.
